II Peter 1:10-11
Because of this, brethren, be all the more solicitous and eager to make sure (to ratify, to strengthen, to make steadfast) your calling and election; for if you do this, you will never stumble or fall. Thus there will be richly and abundantly provided for you entry into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. (Amplified Bible)
Giving one's life to Christ does not take away the hazards of life. But, if you are steadfast, the Holy Spirit will guide you and help you side step the many rocks and soft spots that will be in your path. It is distinctly possible that there are places and/or people in your life that may cause you to stumble. If so, consider Paul's charge, "But you, man of God, flee from all this, and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance and gentleness, " I Timothy 6:11 (NIV).
