To our faithful friends,
I wanted to give you a short update on our work here at Arctic Barnabas as well as share a need we currently have. First of all I am working very hard to get our new Cessna 206 airworthy so we can put it into service in the next couple of weeks. In addition to installing a new engine we are doing some modifications as well as some maintenance items that are not usually done on a yearly basis. It is exciting to be this close to getting it in the air and into service so we can visit the families we serve in rural Alaska on a more regular basis. There are several pictures with this so you can see what we are working on with this airplane, one with me and the old engine about to come off, the new engine, the space for the new engine and the airplane as it will look when it is complete and airworthy.
In addition to her normal work at home with the children Sara had the privilege of working with other Arctic Barnabas ladies to host a women's retreat for many ladies who live in the native villages we serve. Sara also looks forward to teaching the material in another women's retreat we will be hosting in April. Please pray for her as she prepares so she can open to the Lord's leading in what she should say to be an encouragement to the ladies who will attend.
As far as our need, it is in regards to vehicles. Basically what we are asking is for help to purchase a car for me to commute to work every day. The car I have been driving (a 1991 Geo Storm with 265,000miles) has finally breathed its last. This car was a gift and we are extremely grateful for it, but it is beyond the money it would take to repair it at this point. Currently I am driving my truck to work, which works well and is paid off, it just gets terrible gas mileage (9 mpg). We definitely have need for the truck and it is in great shape, it is just not affordable to drive where I work every day at the Arctic Barnabas Hangar, with gas currently at $4.10 a gallon and climbing. A couple of people have helped with vehicle expenses and we are trying raise some more funds so I can purchase a car that gets good mileage and that will be reliable. If you wish to help us with this expense it would be sent directly to us and made out to us, it cannot be processed through Arctic Barnabas so unfortunately you will not receive a tax deductible receipt. Our mailing address is PO Box 1996, Kenai, AK 99611.
Thank you for your prayers, we could certainly use them as we have felt the attacks of the evil one recently.
Thank you for considering helping us and as always we covet your prayers more than anything, we could certainly use them now more than ever. If you have any questions please feel free to call or email at anytime.
In Christ,
Paul Hadfield, Lead Mechanic
