I just finished a book I’d like to share with you, “Every Other Monday” by John Kasich. If the name sounds familiar it’s because Kasich is the governor of Ohio. He also hosted a show on Fox News at one time. But relax. This book is not about politics!
When I first saw it I thought maybe it was a copycat of the wonderful “Tuesdays With Morrie” that I enjoyed so much. Not so. The title refers to a Bible study group that Kasich attends on every other Monday. The book is about this group of men and how they grew spiritually and emotionally as they took scripture and applied it to their everyday lives. At first, it was a bit slow going as the reader is introduced to the group. But then it picks up and finishes strongly, discussing issues that we all deal with in our daily lives.
Some time ago Odie Crossman posted a Board message which talked about how he felt disconnected to his faith before coming back strong. Well, there is a chapter in this book entitled: “Dark Nights of the Soul” which addresses this issue that has affected many of us, myself included. Also, this chapter relates an incredible series of God directed events that no one could dismiss as coincidence!
Another chapter: “Points of Connection” gives a summation of some of the issues the group wrestled with, such as; forgiveness, vanity, integrity, generosity, ambition, justice and greed.
This book is a quick read, only 221 pages. I think it will be a blessing to you!
Your brother,
Don
