Armor Up!—Proficiency of the Armor
Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
Ephesians 6:11
If you were a dog working alongside Navy SEALs, how much would your body armor cost? Would you believe $30,000? Many elite military units employ canine partners, and every dog sent into combat is outfitted with a tactical bulletproof vest that includes a waterproof high-definition camera, a harness for rappelling with its handler from helicopters, integrated microphones and speakers, and the most current woven technology for stopping bullets or knives. These dogs can move faster than the SEALs, and they can detect smells and sounds crucial to the mission. They’re worth every penny of the gear they carry.
Our Master in heaven has purchased the armor we need. “Truth, righteousness, peace, faith, and salvation are more than words,” says Ephesians 6:14-18 in The Message. “Learn how to apply them. You’ll need them throughout your life. God’s Word is an indispensable weapon. In the same way, prayer is essential in this ongoing warfare.”
Our adversity is deadly, but the armor of God is proficient and able to keep us safe and victorious. Determine today to live a righteous life, to trust God in the crossfire, to appropriate the Scriptures, and to be faithful to prayer.
Gird on the royal armor, that we the foe may face; and trusting our Commander be victors through His grace.
