Although the Chauvin trial is now over, I ask for continued prayers for all so tragically affected by the Floyd death. There are so many. I also ask for prayers for our law enforcement officers who now face continued and aggressive attacks from so many in our communities. My chaplaincy work allows me daily contact with many officers from a number of different departments that serve communities with all kinds of different racial and economic backgrounds. From my personal perspective there is not systemic racism in the ranks. Virtually all those that I come in contact with and know very well are extremely professional and serve their citizens with a color blind eye. But because of all the news and the biased coverage of this event, and many others, my friends in law enforcement feel that there is a huge target on their backs. They feel that they are being painted with a very broad brush because of the actions of a few. And they are! Please pray for their safety and for their peace of mind during these very stressful times. And if you get a chance, thank an officer for all that they do every day to protect us and keep us safe!
