More than 2,300 U.S. military personnel died in the attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941—79 years ago today. Even though the coronavirus pandemic is preventing veterans and their families from attending the annual Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day ceremony in Hawaii, we honor and remember with deep gratitude the men and women who defended our country that day. Mickey Ganitch, a Navy sailor who survived the attack, is now 101 years old and recalls the horror. He said some people call him a hero, and he responds, “I’m a live hero, but I’ve got a lot of dead heroes too.” Read his story in the link and remember with thankfulness all those serving in our nation’s military.
