I found this short article and VERY short supportive video quite interesting... Now here is the thing... Apparently this group of aerodynamicists are concerned about safety issues caused by this misunderstanding... I know I taught the original theory for many many years as an instructor and it seemed to be easy enough for a thinking mind to understand... And, I watched the video which does seem to support the "slightly different" analogy... Now, here is where I really really hope I get some replies from you guys. Okay, so I've long since taught that air particle A going over the top of the wing and particle B going under the wing arrive at the trailing edge at the same time, thereby creating a lower pressure over the upper surface of the wing... WHAT I DON'T UNDERSTAND is their thinking that this slight tweak in a very basic explanation of the theory of lift would foster a safety issue... In other words, how would the fact that particle A arives at the TE a nanosecond before particle B in any way cloud the basic understanding of a flight student? I'd love some input on this... Here is the link... Thanks in advance for any thoughts.... Dave www.physorg.com/news/2012-01-wings.html
