My church family has been on a ninety day journey through the New Testament using the book “Journey Through The New Testament” by Tim Christoson. Wednesday was day 78 and the reading was 1 Peter 1-2. I think the message there is so pertinent to what we are going through right now.
Some excerpts:
…Heaven is incorruptible. “To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you.” 1 Peter 1:4. If life on earth becomes difficult, painful and tragic, that simply has no bearing on your reservation in Heaven. No one or nothing can change the fact that you get to spend forever in a perfect place where there’s no pain, suffering, disease, sin or death.
Don’t let cable news or life’s stresses cause you to think that things are spinning out of control. Yes, our trials are real. But God does give us perspective to rejoice through them. If you’re saved, maybe the most important reminders you need are that God’s promises are unchanging. His blood is still applied to your account and an eternity of joy awaits you. …
Prayer:
Lord Jesus, I praise and thank You for the precious blood that You shed for me as a Lamb without blemish. Thank You for Your forever reliable Word. And thank You for the reservation in Heaven awaiting for me, earned not by my works but by Your perfect merit. What an assurance is mine! May I endure whatever You have for me, by your grace, in a manner that reflects those realities. Amen.
