DAY TWO: You Are Not an Accident
Isaiah 44:2
New International Version (NIV)
This is what the Lord says—he who made you, who formed you in the womb, and who will help you:
• Not planned parenthood, but planned childhood and PLANNED BY GOD
• We were created because of God’ love
• He formed us exactly to His specifications; We are perfect in His sight
o He determined out natural talents
o Uniqueness of our personality
Psalm 139:13-16
For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. 14 I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.15 My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place, when I was woven together in the depths of the earth.16 Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.
• Nothing in our lives in arbitrary; it is all for a purpose
Acts 17:26 From one man he made all the nations, that they should inhabit the whole earth; and he marked out their appointed times in history and the boundaries of their lands.
• We are planned by God
• No mistakes; He does not make mistakes
• His motive for our creation was His love; the focus of His love
Ephesians 1:4
New International Version (NIV)
4 For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love
• We are the most valuable creation He has made
• We are the “center of the universe” (funny parent saying to us as children)
• Comment author makes about science revealing = grand design
• Even Stephen Hawkins has come to conclusion of some type of “seeding” = interesting phrase
James 1:18
New International Version (NIV)
18 He chose to give us birth through the word of truth, that we might be a kind of firstfruits of all he created.
• We are formed so God can love us.
• The essence of His character is love
Isaiah 46:3-4
New International Version (NIV)3
“Listen to me, you descendants of Jacob, all the remnant of the people of Israel, you whom I have upheld since your birth, and have carried since you were born.
4 Even to your old age and gray hairs, I am he, I am he who will sustain you. I have made you and I will carry you; I will sustain you and I will rescue you.
• We discover our purpose when we make God the reference point of our lives
o Reference point analogies in Math
• X-y plane
• Angles
• Without a decided defined plan of reference it is impossible to have measure, perspective, navigate, or understand communications
• Poem: page 26 of text:
“No, that trauma you faced was not easy.
And God wept that it hurt you so;
But it was allowed to shape your heart
So that into His likeness you’d grow.”
• Questions asked at the end of day two:
o What areas of your personality, background, and physical appearance am I struggling to accept?
