NWA pilot, Carl Simmons had a very unusual thing happen to him while flying a B-727/200 in 1985. He lost two of the three engines right after takeoff while the flaps were still down. This event was supposed to be so statistically challenged that no one trained for it. Carl and his crew did a terrific job and safely landed the aircraft. Another friend, Wayne Anderson, did a video about this event and has posted it on the internet. It is well worth the time to watch. Back in the '80s things were done a little differently than now. After this catastrophic event the crew went right back out and flew again a few hours later!! vimeo.com/30763514 Thanks to Dean Matson for this great video!
